Equipment

If you want a real good cocktail bar at home, you're going to need this:

Strainer:
This one is needed to keep little pieces of fruit or ice out of the cocktail.

Shaker:
The classic one-part shaker is definitely one of the most important this you need to make a good cocktail. Once the shaking is finished just screw off the cover and pour the cocktail through a build-in strainer into the glass.

Shaker (Boston shaker):
The shaker for the professional barkeeper. Consisting of a glass and a metal jar. The glass help measuring the cocktail and after the shaking you pour the cocktail out off the metal part.

Double Measuring tube:
Easy way to measure: the one end takes 3cl the other exactly 2cl.

Ice crusher:
Crushed ice is needed for a lot of cocktails. This one’s not a must have, because a towel and hammer can give you the same result.

Knife and a cutting board:
Can be found in every average kitchen but for a new bar a must have.

Fruit press:
Fresh orange juice tastes ten times better than boxed-stuff does.

Mixer:
Again not a must-have but some cocktails make it necessary. It’s a question how much you want to spend on your equipment.

Some more useful think you should think of are: ice, something to serve the ice in (like a bucket), straws or something to seal your open champagne bottles with.
